   For example, the user can pay a monthly fee to have a faster approval time. Is this possible?

   Also, are the article automatically approved or can they each be manually approved?

   Sure does! We add 3 extra levels of author status. You can choose if they pay for that or give it to them based upon different options you choose in the admin settings (like youtube channel, facebook or twitter accounts, number of articles submitted, etc)

   We offer an easy wizard where you just pop in your paypal code (whether buy now one time for status or a subscription service), choose the other options and save. Authors will see the upgrade offer on registration and edit author profile page. You could also but a banner to the pages, links, menu item etc if you want to.

   You can choose whether articles are auto published or set to pending. If pending you could easily view pending articles and what level of author they are from, and bulk approve.

   Is This Product Supported?

   Here’s the deal… This product came about because we’re in the business of article directories all over the internet. So if the script isn’t updated just as WordPress is updated then our own sites will break too. Not something we want to happen to our PR 4 + domains. And, we don’t want it to happen to you either.

   Do You Offer Installation?

   Yes, installation of the theme and getting it working on your site is available for an extra fee. You can order it once a registered member. Of course you’ll still need to add some easy fill in the blank details about your specific business.

   We can also install WP and set up a new database if you need us to do that, as well.

   Also, let me say this, the script and theme is easy to install. Most people will not need installation services. Usually the only installs we do are for people who are too busy to do it themselves. Not because they can’t do it.

   Is this software encoded?

   Yes, portions are encoded, and there are several reasons for it.

   First, from our licensing standpoint.

   Second, by encoding the functions a server doesn’t need to read blank spaces and extra code slowing your server down with extra wasted requests. In an encoded format everything is ‘smashed’ together so reading and execution can be accomplished more efficiently.

   Lastly, we’ve had extra support requests from WP ‘gurus’ who do a much better job at breaking functionality than helping it. Trying to track down where they left out a simple quotation mark or semi-colon could take us days. This is precious time wasted to fix something that should not have been touched to begin with.

   Can my host’s server run your software?

   99% can without you lifting a finger, but let’s check! All you really need is Zend Optimizer. If not already installed on your server your host should be able to do it right away. The scripts will run faster if the loaders are installed by your host in your php.ini file.

   You can use the simple checker file located on the sales page footer area to check if you would like.

   Since every site can be customized to look different I can’t give you every domain it is installed on. However, here is our test site.

   It may not always look pretty as we could be in the process of testing out new functions.

   We’ll try to leave some notes on the site to show you what can be done. For example, the whole front page is widgetized, and we have tried to leave out any functionality that would direct a guest to a WP login page or error page. The site should be ‘self-contained’ within the theme and every registered user is blocked from your admin area in the backend.

    When an Author account is created, who has access to the author email address? Is this software safe from capturing and forwarding their (Author) email address to any other party other than the site administrator? Anti-spam is a top priority for me as a site owner and any potential of a violation is a serious concern.

    The site administrator should be the only one who receives these details. Otherwise your privacy policy must reflect where the emails are being distributed. If you are using the built in autoresponder services make sure they are configured properly with your details so they actually land on your list and not someone else’s by mistake. But, outside of these small issues, everyone of your author signups should be totally secure.

    Apart from your present theme, can I use other themes also? And I am running a free wp articles directory theme here: http://www.ezine……articles.com, will it effect my present database ?

    First, it will not affect your current database. Since your current setup is also WordPress nothing will change except that you’ll have added functionality and continued support.

    The current theme you are using was created by Dimox and is no longer being supported from my conversations with him recently. Because the layout is clean and he has always done awesome work, the next theme we release will be largely based on this layout. I hate to promise when it will be released but I can say confidently that it is being worked on right now.

    Q1 I’m curious about your built in autoresponder is that for sending the username and password or can you send messages at anytime? Can you use it with get response?

    I have another wp site and members must register however they don’t end up on a autorepsonder.

    Q2 You mentioned a theme not supported anymore I’m interested in the category style. This script is probably more than I need its the autoresponder that interests me.
    

    The autoresponder setup is for for people wanting to get the free ebooks and end up in your aweber autoresponder. We are adding other autoresponders as well.

    The problem with adding people directly to an autoresponder outside of the site is privacy policy issues and TOS with autoresponder companies themselves. There is a specific process they want followed and if it’s broken they get a little furious.

    If this is the only thing you’re looking for, you’re right, this script won’t be for you.

    I am interested in building a private network article site for my personal use.
    How much are extra licenses for these? I am thinking of about 30, but this depends on the cost of the license.
    Also is there the ability to use 1 site as a “Slave site” so it will automatically post to the other 29 sites?
    

    Extra licenses are $57 for one. Bulk discounts are of course available to help you build the network you want at a huge savings.

    If you understand or have software to accomplish the slave site distribution it should work without any issues. However, we don’t support this and don’t have any further recommendations.

    There is a built in ‘blacklist’ of words that you can edit as well. There is not an option right now to limit links. That can be added in our feature request area however.

    Yes, you can do both with some configurations.

    First of all let me explain the featured statuses. Now you will have three added author roles to work with; Featured, Expert and Master. Each can be easily configured with the options screens, no editing any files. What you allow with each level is again up to you. If you would like to only allow featured articles for one of these roles then you will be able to easily choose the author levels and mark the article submissions as featured.

    Second, to charge authors just to signup you would want to first create a special payment page for your requirements and mark the settings to not allow automatic signup. You’ll need to approve the authors who pay of course manually after confirmation. You can easily remove the submission page from the menu’s, and include that link only from the purchase email you send the new author if you would like.

    This script is much more than a plugin. In order to accomplish an overall quality for what our owners want many of the functions need to be hardcoded into the templates themselves. Therefore, you aren’t able to use your own templates. On the other hand since we work with a parent child theme framework it is easy to customize your own directory with some knowledge of CSS. Additionally, the theme options page allows header and footer uploads, color changes, some margins movement, etc… (without having to know any CSS).

    I’d like to know if it’s possible to make this an article directory with revenue share. Say i share 50% adsense earnings.

    Sharing is entirely possible but only at 100% or 0% with your authors. Now, let me explain also that the ads they share in are ONLY located within their articles. So if someone clicks an Adsense ad in the sidebar while reading an article that income is yours.

    There are several automatic submission services which can be used to get articles on demand to your new article directory. I usually recommend starting with these until authors can see and find your directory on their own. Actually, any submission service who includes a WP plugin to get articles will work. Some submission services require to code your own plugin.

    Your script looks great. I have an article directory and have a over 38,000 authors. Is it possible if I switch over to your script that I can tranfer my data base of those authors over to your script? Thanks for your help.

    If your current directory is running WordPress then it is VERY easy since the database tables remain the same. If you are using another directory format like AF, AD etc… then you will have to manipulate the DB tables doing some export and import functions. It can be done. I’ve done it before successfully myself but I don’t support it for other users.

    The author doesn’t have a ‘dashboard’. They have an edit profile page accessed from the front end once they are signed in. We do this on purpose as to not expose the ‘backend’ to anyone but admins.

    Yes, media can be displayed from a link or embed within the articles. In future versions there will be separate settings for owners to allow or disallow.

    Adsense earnings for the author comes from ONLY the adsense placed within the article settings page. Authors will not earn income from sidebar widgets etc even if showing their article.

    You can choose to not show the number or reads if you want to. It is pretty accurate though since it’s a true database count of the actual page views.

    Hi, my question is a mix of #12 and #20.
    I currently own an articles directory with 260,000 articles and over 7,800 pending approval. The site has been live for several years and it has decent organic traffic.

    I need something to help better manage all the submissions I receive, so I’m hoping this will be a fit.

    However, I cannot afford to lose my existing database or queue, so I’m wondering how a WP install will go on a PHP-based site with a mysql database. Can it work?

    Honestly, it’s been done but I don’t care to do it again. Until a better solution (much easier than a manual process) of transferring posts from a mysql database into a WP database (yes mysql too but different formats) there really isn’t a solution. Especially with your size of database.

    Absolutely! During setup DO NOT choose to import categories and children cat’s. Instead skip that step and add your own categories. It will work the same but using only the categories you choose. I suggest 5-10 keyword rich categories and then add one or more child categories for each.

    Do authors have the ability to edit their articles before and after they are approved? Sometimes you may want to edit an article when it is in pending status.

    Does your theme will work on Dreamhost? Or will that require Sourceguardian Loaders?

    Sourceguardian loaders are required at this time. Most hosts should install this easily and quickly for you with a simple support request. The only ‘real’ problem I’ve ever seen is with shared hosting on GoDaddy.     The translation file is included in the language folder. PoEdit is all you should need but if you have issues with it or something was missed in the code just let the support desk know so it can be fixed.

    Is there a “negative keywords filter” built into the script? If I choose to auto-publish I would first want each article to screened through a negative keyword filter, or “banned words filter” — perhaps that is a better way to describe it…

    We have a banned words file included. This file is editable by the owner and all manually published articles (before being submitted) are checked. If one of your ‘bad words’ is found, the author is asked to change that word before the submission will continue.

    How does this compare with the Daily WP Article Directory plugin?
    Are the two compatible together?

    I recently purchased the plugin, but I think I should have bought this one instead. The two look similar, but this one looks to have more options and functions.
    Wish I had seen this before I purchased the other one for $79.

    Both are “THEMES” not plugins, first of all. The www.WordPressArticleDirectory.com script (this one) has thousands of functions built in. I can’t comment on the other options because I don’t buy them… What I do know is two things…. 1) I only write one script, Article Directories! My time isn’t bogged down by trying to fulfill offers and coding for other niches like competitors trying to jump on the bandwagon and 2) all I can say is that if someone chooses for me to do an installation ‘sometimes’ I see their directory theme installed but they want this one installed and activated instead…

    Question regarding the automatic submission services. Can you provide more details such as how many different submission services are there, can you share who those services are and lastly, how many articles per day are normally received in automatic submission.

    This looks really great!

    Any service which provides a WP plugin to receive their articles will work. Check with the services you intend to use. I typically try to stay at about 30 articles a day until I get around 500 articles to build the directory, then back off to 5 articles a day just to keep a steady stream coming in. By the time you get the first 500 to 1000 automated articles you should be attracting authors who start to manually submit to your directory if your site is marketed properly.

    This is a WordPress theme, so it is no different than installing any other ‘theme’. If your current WP site IS NOT the subdomain of course you’ll need to configure the DB so it knows you’re using it on a subdomain.

    Yes, using the html copy box provided (which is printed below the article if you click to enable it) a ‘source’ link is included to your directory home page.

    There will be an option in early 2012 (probably January) to allow or disallow URL’s in the article body and excerpt (only allowing them in the author resource box). Choosing the ‘number’ of allowed links is not planned however as that is much more difficult to determine a link and count them out in scripting knowledge.
